It was a dreich day when these Christmas decorations were snapped in Sauchiehall Street.
The picture must have been taken pre-1972, when the Gaumont Cinema shut its doors to be converted into the Savoy Centre.
Although the lights don't look very impressive here, come nightfall, and with no pedestrianisation in place, drivers could go 'up Sauchie, doon Buckie, and alang Argyle' beneath an unbroken canopy of twinkling lights.
